Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I prepare for my visit?

A. Please eat a small meal prior to your appointment to support your body's energy. If you do not have time to eat, we can provide a snack for you. Wear loose-fitting clothes that can be easily rolled up or moved to expose areas of the body that need to be needled. If you are unable to change before coming in, you can undress to your comfort level, we provide sheets and blankets to cover you.

Q. Does Acupuncture hurt?

A. Most people do not feel the needles. The therapeutically desirable sensations are feelings of heaviness, warmth or coldness, or a dull ache. These feelings can sometimes be intense, but they should never be painful. We do not want you to feel sharp sensations.

Q. How long does the appointment last?

A. The first visit can take up to an hour and a half. We need to have a thorough understanding of your health history and current needs and perform necessary examinations. Resting time is 30 minutes. Return visits last 45 minutes to one hour.

Q. How often will I need to come?

A. Every person is in a different stage of their health. In general, the more often you come in the beginning, the quicker your relief will come. Chronic conditions may take longer to heal than acute conditions but that is not always the case. I always recommend coming twice a week for three weeks to begin with. If that does not work with your schedule or finances, that is ok! We will work to help you find health over time.

We want every patient to find a place of health where they only need to come in seasonally for preventative care.

Q. Do you offer discounts?

A. I can offer a small number of income-based discount treatments per month. Please use our contact page to inquire.
